Brand New MK2 Cavalier SRi!!!!

They were good cars, and went like stink because they didn't have the weight of all the safety gear that we have to have now, but they didn't have any suspension to speak of! I did a combined mileage of about 150,000 in a 1600L (B841 AAX, then a 1.8GLi,(D450 JEX) the first car I ever had with a sunroof. I got my head quite badly sunburned that summer........

the Mark II was a great car - I'll sound old now but how easy where they to work on? I replaced bent valves, sumps, injectors, exhausts, brakes all with a halfords tool kit and some friendly advice from a local RAC man!!

cant do that these days, you skin your knuckles just looking in the engine bay plus the Phd in electronics!!

Now that photo bring's back memories.. God, MK 2's.. I've had four of them..Last on had the 1800 ripped out and a 130 put in.. my first ever engine swap..
Also the cars that I did the most to..The last one was written off in a shunt, but only having 3rd party meant it was a self fix..Bought a new shell cheaply and re-shelled the car.. Money was tight as I was at college then, cost about £300 over the price of the shell..Took me 6 weeks including the DVLA checks. They went like stink but you could nick them with a coathanger..

A chap I know has a Mk2 Cav Calibre... its a lovely looking thing that he's lavished money and time on and it looks superb.

My old Sri 130 is still sorely missed, 1 of the quickest cars i've owned.

I never owned a Mk 2 myself, but did a fair few miles in them. A mate had a white CD which was mistaken a few times for an unmarked police car - had a few laughs in that one. Also had a few traded in when I worked at a F*** main dealers, including an almost new 1.3L saloon which went surprisingly well and a 1.6 GLS which came back under warranty because of a rumbly crank. Without exception, they were a pleasure to drive and imho simply wiped the floor with the Sierra (although I won no popularity points for saying so to my sales manager!)
