    Default filter mod

    Hiya everybody did the airfilter mod today and found the how 2 very informative,reading through the how2 discusion i came to page 6 and 1 member said he would have to reset his ecu but he has also done the caterman mod so would he be refering to that for resetting the ecu. I:m sorry if this is going over old ground but if i dont ask i will never learn any information would help tony

    resetting the ecu is done by disconecting the battery for about 30 min's and then reconect it, the ecu is a learning thing, so clear's out old data and keep's the new once you start to drive again......afaik good for all kind's of mod's like box mod/airfilter change and of course the box of trick's fitment...

    From what I understand Its better to reset the ECU but not a necessity. If you reset the ECU it takes less time for the Air/Fuel ratio to be spot on as you should be drawing in more air , did you replace the filter at the same time ie with a K&N?

    Hiya pecojess no i didnt replace the filter at all just cleaned the old one and put it back ,i ran the car round to the stealers in leicester for anew pollen filter and i got some discount on that which surprised me. i dont know if its my imagination but i thought the car pulled away alot better it being an oil burner

    when i first fitted my box and K&N fliter i didn't reset the ecu, when the car went to te dealer's for some work the box came off.....got it back...re-fitted the box and reset the ecu..........and such a difference

    Hiya ditchp i:m abit worried about messing with the ecu and electics in general on cars as i have not done this before and i:ve certainly not owned an oil burner tony

    this is my first diesel too mate, trust me all it does is reset the air/fuel mixture..........doesn't upset the car in any way shape or form and you can tell the difference, just feel's smoother

    Thanks ditchp and pecojess for the input on the post i shall see if i can sort somthing out tomorrow if the weathers ok.By the way i used tobe a NFFC fan in the glory days when i lived in Long eaton tony

    Yes i know what you mean by always being a fan i dont take to much notice of football these days to much todo and not enough time,didnt have time todo the reset today had to go into work(mallory park) to have a look at all the mods they are doing before the race season starts,maybe i will beable to do it sometime before the weekend tony
