Default Tested the twin turbo 1.9...

Went in and drove the Saab 1.9CDTTI today. The CDTTI had a slightly better pick up low down as one would expect but by 2000rpm it just felt wet. I tested it using my little box and ran it around for quite a while, it would definatly need tuning up to even keep up with mine. Not impressed I'm afraid but as a base to start from which is what I was looking at, it has potential. The pull noticably died off at around 4000rpm as with the CDTI so there should be masses of room for squeezing out more up there. That tiny little turbo that works by itself until 1800rpm is not working anything like hard enough, I'll be wipping that thing into life when I get one.

All in all it wasn't a bad ride, the car happily plodded along at low revs with no complaint, which will be good for economy. It's a definate improvement over the 150PS version of this engine, much more refined but still not enough.

You say your not impressed but what were you expecting from a STANDARD car? Your probably so used to your modified car you've forgotten what a standard car is like to drive lol . You need to compare like for like ........ so......... is it better than a standard 1.9 150? If its better than at least thats an improvement on the 1.9 150.

Karl, lets not kid a kidder, if it was a Ferarri V12 you'd still be looking for a pony farm to fit to it.

I did say, it is better than the CDTI, a big improvement. Thing is, everyone was saying it was great and would leave mine standing and it would drive like nothing else and this and that and poo. It wasn't but it could be with a little Nutron love.

I used my GPS box not a tuning box, so I could take so G reading and some in gear acceleration timings. Like I said, it did accelerate better below 2000rpm then it just sat there painfully. It needs more torque an suffers from the same dying feeling at 4000rpm as the standard CDTI.

I think I'll wait for the Insignia as that has the extra 10bhp to start with. I would expect to get at least 230BHP from the twin turbo but with a much wider torque band.
