A quick search on google Amazing what you can find

My filter arrived this morning Won't be able to fit it till Thursday.
Sorry to hijack the thread but which way does it go in??
Either way round but it will only fit one way up
Any idea how long they take to dry after washing? Got visions of being stuck with a wet filter on the draining board and a car u/s on the drive!
what ever u do do not get the filter wet. the only way to clean it is with an air gun and you have to blow them clean. i washed mine in water and i had power loss my oil was frothing in my view glass. not a good idea and i even let the darn thing dry over night. not sure if the k&n are the same as normal filters (material wise) tho, but i wouldn't risk it again.
just read http://www.knfilters.com/cleaning.htm and forgot k&n's aren't the same materials are they. ignore previous reply then guys. ooooops
i used brake cleaner stepdad a mechianic n he said it the best way to clean to filter
K&n say it should be checked after 50000 miles for road use mate , so might not need done if youve not done too many miles.

4. How often do I need to clean my K&N air filter?
If you have not experienced a decrease in mileage or engine performance, chances are your filter is fine and does not yet need cleaning. To be more specific, the filter does not require cleaning if you can still see the wire screen on the entire air filter regardless of how dirty it may appear. When the screen is no longer visible some place on the filter, it is time to clean it. When used in normal paved road, street or highway conditions, our replacement air filters that fit in the factory air box should require cleaning every 50,000 miles and our large conical filters on an intake system should require cleaning every 100,000 miles. When used in dusty or off-road environments, our filters will require cleaning more often. We recommend that you visually inspect your filter once every 25,000 miles to determine if the screen is still visible.
