got a noise!!! ahhhh!!

went out last nite to head up the street, started the car, wired noise!! first thing came into my head was the timing chain, but i had a kit put on bout 10k miles ago (2.2 petrol, chain slipped, top end rebuild done), so i thought couldntb that, sound like its coming from the bottom of the engine, exhaust area. it did disappear after but 10 15 mins???

the only way i can discribe it is like a stone rattling in a pipe, if you rev it speeds up but if you hold the car at a steady revf it seems to settle don a bit, the exhaust note is a bit different too (madnex catr bk system) could it be the cat?? could it be fallin apart inside??

looks like a trip to the machincs after work tomorrow

It might be that you have a broken front coil spring, It is a noise I now recognise, does it sound like a metal braket ratteling along the exhaust pipe, that is what the front coil spring sounded like.

had a broken front coil when the timing chain broke, so they r nt even a year old yet, never rains but it pours lol, this noise is when the cars not moving, cant really hear it when moving, because of road noise, exhaust note, induction kit lol

theres a thought heat shield?? nw another question, may soung stupid, lol, the cats the part that looks like its got a flexible outer coating on it??? had a quick look, its pouring down as usual, looks like is damaged a bit?? need to jack the car up for a good look.

the flexible section is just that...part of the exhaust....

the CAT is housed inside the manifold assy...

if the flexible is damaged then it could rattle..if it is this section then try and get an aftermarket piece as the VX part is extremely expensive..

had another look, flexible section has bit od damage but nothing major, car was ticking over an noise js disapeard again?? nw jus there sumtimes when i rev????

made a video clip 2 hear noise, nt really clear but wil try an upload to youtube if ne1 wants to hear it, an link it to a post.

i can hear a bucket load of induction noise...in the start of the video what sounds like a belt/idler flapping and i think some chain noise...did they change the tensioner when they changed the chains or did they just use again..
