    Default Poor handling

I have to say that since before Xmas the handling on the estate has been.....shall we say "interesting" or "challenged".
Steering wander, bump steer, a general vague feel to it, feels "bouncy" on short bends. Goes round roundabouts without any problem. Is worse with more ppl in the car (has a "boat" feel with 5 ppl up)
My initial thoughts were tyres, but it has had NCT 5's (215/50's) and now a set of Federal 595's (now 225/45's), and is still the same.
    I have 3 thoughts now..........
Steering rack play, cant feel any play in steering.
    Front ARB bushes.
Shocks. They bounce okay but that doesnt necessarily mean they are, on certain roads it does feel as though there is some "patter" from the fronts.
It has just been serviced (57k) and the dealers immortal words were "cant find anything wrong, tyre pressures were a little off".
Anyone any suggestions, or previous experience pls??

The SRi shouldn't 'boat' or float much at all.... i seriously wonder if it's dampers are on their way out...57K miles is a fair mileage for VX shocks as they are poor quality....

    33psi all round.
My guess is its the shocks as 51k of the 57k has been as a cab and we have LOTS of speed bumps.
But it is in the dealers tomorrow so they can have another look.

Totally agree. Vauxhall shocks are rubbish, if you get 50k out of them you're lucky.

Fit a set of Bilsteins (the black OE spec ones) - they're much better, still give a nice ride, and last a lot longer that Vauxhall's rubbish.

N/s front IS weak, just tried hard braking from speed and as the front dipped slightly it tried to veer to the left.
Any ideas on price and supplier.

Yep, you can use LMF, personally I got mine from www.tuning.co.uk - or if you have part numbers and know anyone with a Euro Car Parts account get them there - they import them to the UK.

Vx shockers sre rubbish but Vx can't tell if they're weak cause the springs do such a good job-they can only tell when they're totally gone. I took mine back after 11 months (they had 12 months warranty)cause I good tell they weren't right but it was taken for a test drive-felt ok then after 13 months when I changed them they were totally useless!

Now I'm on my Bilstein B6's that's a different story!

    Cheers Gsi3.2 ;-)

Just got off the phone to LMF, £49ea fronts and £46ea rears plus a tenner postage.
    Sounds good to me.
