Default Demand the Government to issue Treadwear Rating's...

Would like to find out people's thoughts and views on this. In the U.S tyre manufacturer's are issued treadwear rating's which are done by independant testers. It gives the buyer an idea of longer lasting rubber... I think we should demand this in the U.K where afterall saftey is the main issue as well as value for money.

yeah i think there is a treadwear rating on tyres.
i believe its comes in the form of letters. iirc AA is a better (longer) wearing tyre.
there is also the same rating for grip, again, iirc AA is the better gripping tyre.

not sure if these are on all tyres over here, but i have seen them.

I think your dead right matey. Yet is it independantly tested on the same vechicle in similar testing conditions? In the U.S its done as standard and I think it would be a good thing to be had over here.... (at least there's one think the yanks can help us on)....

I don't think I would have much use for that, I buy tyres for grip not life.

The Yokohama track tyres I'm riding in will probably last 4 months tops. On the up side, the grip is very good and they are much better in the wet than the Toyo 888 was. No where near as noisy either!
