Default Optional Extras that should be standard

After just reading a post about AFL, maybe it's about time that all cars were fitted with this. Remember ABS now thankfully nearly all cars are fitted with this as standard, and ESP from what I have read is much more common in Europe than it is here......and don't forget that at least some of the Vectras if they are badged as OPEL come with a full-size spare. Why should features which are known as improving car safety not available everywhere?

For too long we were ripped off on price.......but it shouldn't stop there. For example to equip all cars with ESP during production would cost a mere £200 ...worth the extra I would say.

    Waddya think?

Well said, Paid £400 for the esp+ inc IDS, AFL was £700. Full size spare won't fit in the boot

Full size wont fit in the boot? Sure it will, I think I remember Armoured Farmer having a full 19" in the boot.

Yep, ESP is more common in Europe and people are campaigning for it to be much common on more cars here, like ABS is - and to which it's being compared to as being as significant a safety feature.

It all comes down to cost and remaining competitive with other brands.

Yep, and as the cost of the kit comes down in price, like it did with ABS, it'll become more common place. When ABS was first out/in the early years, you'd only see it as standard on more expensive models. Now it's even on things like a Matiz! lol

So, if TC is SO good for safety, why are folks on here fitting switches to turn it off???

Where did TC come into the convo?, I was referring to ABS - or were you simply initiating it into the convo?

In reply though, people would want to turn it off for a few reasons - it can actually be a disadvantage in the snow/ice when setting off. Spinning the wheels to get a dig in can be helpful in setting of, instead of having the power constantly being cut and just going nowhere.

When people go to Santa Pod, it helps to have it off for better launches.

Original post mentions ESP. Just skewing it to Vecs with TC.

Saying all this, preventing dangerous situations is better than having technology to try to get you out the sh!t
