    Default Disc change made easy

after nearly killing myself trying to remove the disc caliper brackets from the rear of the Signum 2 weeks ago, i gave up and took the easy way out, i booked it in to my local mechanic

2 hours later he called to say all was done

i asked how difficult had it been

    the git was crying laughing

you dont need to remove the caliper bracket to change the discs

just remove the small bolt that holds the disc in place, and slide the disc off the centre and slide it out

over £100 i spent on tools to get it done, to no avail

    ARGHHHHHHHHHHH

A lot of cars don't need the caliper bracket to be removed to remove the disc. My old Astra was the same.

I tried that before, the disc wouldn't come past without removing caliper bracket.

The problem with the haynes manual, good as it is, is that it doesnt tell about all the little tips that you can glean from forums like this one. An example is for changing the front ARB bushes, the haynes manual doesnt tell you how to do this without dropping the subframe, but from this forum you can learn how to do it with a ratchet torx spanner without dropping the subframe.

There are many tips to be found in this forum that'll save you much time and expense. I'm not knocking the haynes manuals, I have just got the Vec C one, but there's plenty they dont cover, but on forums like this one you will find people who have done the job many times over and can tell you how to do it the easier way.

There sure is mate, I got mine last week. Not all engines are included, there is a thread on here about a group buy and it has all the details in it.
