Default It keeps going limp on me!!!

Hi guy's. I found this forum whilst researching a fault with my Vectra C 2.2 DTI SRI.

Over the last week it's been continuously dropping into limp home mode and i'd also noticed the fuel consumption had dropped although there was none of the black smoke reported by some other members. My friendly Snap-On dealer was kind enough to come and give me a demo of his brand new diagnostic machine .

He found a fault relating to boost pressure sensor, on inspection in the engine bay i found a vacuum pipe to the EGR valve with a nice hole in it. i've since repaired to pipe and am hoping this will cure my flacid Vectra

Does anyone know if this would have caused my fault and my subsequent poor fuel consumption?

    cheers folks

    Adam

the DTi runs a vacumn controlled ( rather than electronic controlled ) system, so any vacumn leaks are bad news on this engine..you'll need to do a 100% repair on it..and if one's holed, check all the other hoses and their rubber connectors..

the hole would definately cause your EML and limp home mode..if it does it again clean the boost sensor gently with some carb cleaner as it's more than likely got oil contamination in it..don't spray into the sensor directly as you can damage it..

Boost sensor is down the front of the block, look for a plug with two bare wres coming out of it before it's properly sheathed, Below and slightly left of (towards drivers side) of the EGR Valve housing.
