Default Pic request - retro fit auto dimming mirror

    Hi all,

After driving my mates 04 Sri last week I was impressed by the auto dimming feature on his car. I know some people on here have retro fitted them, but I have a couple of questions...

    1. How easy is it to wire in & fit to the windscreen?
    2. Will the in-direct night lighting work?
    3. How will it look on the windscreen from the outside (bearing in the mind the casing is different?)

    thanks

So I would have to trail a wire from the ciggy lighter to the mirror??

Can it not be done from the interior light??

Hmm, not quite how its installed when a factory option, as it has logic to only operate when lights are on and when in a forward gear, as well as sending a signal over CAN to the drivers mirror to dip and of course control for the brightness of the INL coming from the dash dimmer.

i wired mine all off the roof panel as you have the feeds in there you need eg power earth and a light feed (off the switches as they light up when the side lights are on) so the mirror only dims and lights up when the lights are on

    dead easy to wire up
you need to get the reverse wire to it also so it will not dip when you want to reverse

only 4 wires to do wires on the mirror
1 Power Fag lighter "Black wire"
2 Light in the roof so it wont dip when its On "gray wire"
3 Earth a screw in the roof "brown wire"
4 reverse wire in pass side loom "white/black wire"

OK, how would you go about wiring up the drivers door mirror to do the auto dipping?
I have one of these mirrors but only have the wires for the heated bit. At least i think it's autodipping as it has a couple of extra wires that go to a plug socket on the back of the mirror and the glass is a slightly different orange/yellow colour and connecting the heater wires to it makes it go dark when you put the heated rear window on??
