Default Blanking Egr Vectra-c Cdti 150 54 plate

    Hi.

Had the well known swirl valve issue , Spoke to my Local Vx dealership & they told me to Blank the Egr off. After seeing how much Cr@p was in the manifold i can understand why.

Trouble is with it blanked off it throws the Spanner light & has a Dtc of " Insufficient Egr flow"

Now i did not know that the Egr monitored for Gas flow through the Egr on the Vectra !! (Not like the Stilo 1.9 Jtd Egr).

So to stop my manifold filling with Cr@p again how can i get around this ??

Can you get an Egr fooler, Electronic Gizmo that plugs into the Egr plug & sends all the happy signals back to the Ecu ?? Or any other alternative ??

    Thanks

    Dean

    Default egr

ive just had the same prob with egr+crap in manifold AA said to put a trade fuel additive/de-carboniser in with the fuel+drive it faster ie not potter as i usually do. i thought the egr put the hot mix back in along with the extra air boost from turbo to give more power as well as a cleaner exhaust mix??

How about removing the egr pipe from where it goes at the moment and re-routing to the 'dirty' side of the airbox?,on my 2.2 it went into the plastic inlet manifold so it can't get too hot.

There's a way of tricking the ECU in thinking the EGR is working while it's disabled, involves a plug in box. I'm investigating how it works at the moment.

You can also get the EGR disabled if you get a remap.

I'd love to know how the AA think fuel additive is going to clean the EGR valve.

    Hi ZS.

V Interested in the Plug in Box as this would be by far the simplist solution. Where have you seen them ?? I have had no joy searching Etc ??

    Thanks

    Dean

    Tyreman.

That would work to help remove the Cr@p from the manifold, But the Egr wuld still see no flow & throw a Wobbler

    Cheers

    Dean

Perhaps the AA man was going to pour it Directly into the Inlet Manifold

Sorry,i meant if the egr was working ok and it was only blanked off to save the swirl valve, reinstall it first.

The only plug and play cheater ive seen is for the 2.2 petrol, PM Vocky on here, he makes them and sells them for a tenner. With the 2.2 though, if you put the plate on and then you still need to let the egr open and shut so it doesn't throw a fit. It will still be blocked off but the workings still need to work. This can all be done without a cheater. The cheater was only needed when you completely removed the hole system or when the mechanic's of the valve stopped working. TBH, I dont know if it has any relevance to the CDTI valve but I hope its of some help.
