just heard that shell made 13.9 billion last year. you would think they could prop the prices on fuel and still get a good profit

tell me about it, £1.5 million every hour and they cant keep the price at a resonable rate, bas*a*ds. You'd have thought with all that profit it could at least stabalise the prices for a while

    ps it was £13.9 billion

So if they are classifying it as research / development, are they claiming the 125% tax relief on the expenditure? How nice for them!!

    Researching what???

How 2 sell fuel for 40p a gallon more and call it Optibull

How 2 stop new inventions ever coming out

How 2 break the £4 barrier for a roll

What really is there to research in oil left? it's refined and drawn off into different products, what you put in the tank is the sludge from the barrel, the byproduct, but they don't like you to know this,I can't wait to get my Hydrogen BMW in 2010, opps silly me, the oil companies will buy every one produced to stop Mr Common having one and cleaning the air, global warming my arse, maybe it is happening, but those that say we must do more don't really care, if they did they'd be plugging the alternatives to death by now, con con con con con con con.

Th eprofit from actually selling petrol is tiny -most of it comes from the exploration, extraction and refining of the stuff.
Before everyone starts demonizing the company, think on this:
    1. most of the pump price of fule goes to Uncle Gordon
    2. the corporation taxes they pay on those profits keep us from paying even more money to prop up this government's crazy schemes.
