Default Advice Please - vx parts back order

    Evening,

About a month ago i posted on here about my vectra needing a new ECU, long story short vx agreed to pay 70% of the costs which was at least semi-helpful. My current problem is that the ECU has now been on "back order" for over 3 weeks (it took the vx garage over a week prior to this to work out which part they needed and they still managed to order the wrong part twice). Eventually a GM engineer went out to solve it.

Question really is how long am i likely to have to wait? Do vx have a legal obligation to provide within a set amount of time as the car is less than 4 years old? Does anyone have any useful numbers of people I can prod to get more info as the garage apparently say that it could be any length of time.

The car is a 04 plate 2.0l turbo SRI petrol.

Currently im driving around in an awful loan car which is a bottom end chevvy auto which manages a top speed of about 70mph (Assuming im going downhill) and still eats through 20mpg

    hi m8

i`ll put you in a sort of picture in how parts are ordered,as i use to work in a
vauxhall dealer in parts for quite a few years any part that goes on back
order can take a very long time,i had parts for customers and for warranty
claims going back over 2 months and then really finding out that the parts
numbers had dropped off the system for no apparent reason which that
means its not on order with the factory and if that has happened which the
dealer wont tell you if it has then it has to be re ordered, wot i can do for
you is if you get the part number of ya ecu then i`ll check with my dealer as
i`m there in the morning and see if the ecu is available at factory or
not, here is as below normally how long parts wud normally take if in stock or
    not-

    1. if parts available at factory in uk = 1-2 days from ordering
    2. if not in uk but is available in opel germany = 5-7 days from ordering
    3. if its a none stock part anywere then = 10-14 days or more from ordering

also if the dealer does a dealer search and finds that another dealer in the
uk has 1 in stock then they can draw it from that dealer and vxl wud pay for
all the costs in getting it from that dealer but on the understanding that the
car is off the road and for warranty purposes only.

get me the part number and i`ll check this out for ya and also i`ll get a
    dealer search done aswell.

hope this makes a bit of sense for ya

sorry for late couldnt get on last night due to obvious reasons and been at work today.

the part number is: V0055354333 and should as I say be an ECU for a 2.0l turbo SRI 04plate. Speaking to the garage they say that one of the guys at GM promised it to him for yesterday but hasnt arrived still.

    cheers

    Darren

right an update on ya ecu

i checked with dealer and they are saying the ecu is a none stock part which
means it has to be specially ordered in and cud take more than 10-14 days
but however they done a dealer search and some dealers were showing
this ecu in stock so i`d advise you to ask ya dealer to do a dealer search
and get it from 1 of the dealers or its going to be some wait for the 1
    you have already on order.
