Shortened shocks alone won't lower your car they'd just cause you problems you need shorter springs & preferably matching shortened shocks

forgot to say i have 40mm lowering springs already but the back of the car still seems to sit a bit higher

You need shorter springs at the back then - you can't lower the car using shocks or the suspension wouldn't allow the car to lift

can the original shocks not cause the rear to sit slightly higher then?

The standard shocks will run a 40mm lower spring height with no problems, you'll need to go for an adjustable coilover if you want to go lower still.

KW offer 2 coilover options for the Vec circa £650 and £1200 dependant on the spec you want, have a look at Thorney Motorsport website for the KW's

No, not unless they've got a spring attached to them - they are just a piston inside a tube filled with oil & damp the oscillations of the suspension
