Default Cat or Dpf - Cdti

    All.

    I hope you can help.

Only had my Cdti 150 Elite (est) now for about a month but already have a techy question....

Getting that eggy smell driving.....instantly think - oh great - the cat's shafted......but reading about these DPF's - which I have....

Car has done 63K and an 05..... torque / pickup does not feel as good as it was - could just be getting used to the car - but feels sluggish....

How long do Cat's last on the diesels or could my problem be DPF...?

Never seen a regen symbol nor have I seen a lift in tickover mpg....

Does defo feel like a blockage or some kind of restriction...

    Still love the car though.

regen doesn't come on the dash anymore, they removed it. Take the car for a long run (about 20 miles of motoway at speed) and if its the DPF it should run its cycle. If the smell then goes all is well.
Eggy smell is normally a CAT tbh but with a DPF you never know.

Does the car mainly do stop start journeys etc?

    Thanks for the reply.

Journeys are 40 mile round trip per day 30 of which are motorway at speed limit using the cruise control the other are 40 - 50 mph counrty lanes.

average mpg is just below 40mpg which feels low to me and torque does not see that good to me - but could just be getting used to the car......

Smell is when coming to the end of the motorway journey.... and does smell like cat to me - but never had this dpf side of things before.....

Looks like its time to see the dealers!!!

Still have warrenty on the car from the seller - 3 mths though and is a 50/50 job return to base - this will be invalid will it not if I visit VX.
