    Default 'High Miles' oils....

What does everyone think about using oil's labelled for use over 60,000 miles. I hear they can be better to use as thier thicker and contain more additives. My engine is at 75k and was recently changed with 5w30.

I persoanlly stay with the VX spec, regardless of mileage. At the end of the day VX have done exhaustive durability testing on that oil spec, not others

Stevie, if the car has used 5/30 since new it's a good idea to stay with it, if it's had 10/40 semi or less spec oil you should really stay with that, one is a mineral oil and the other is processed oil, it has been said that switching oils like this isn't a good idea as one can break down the seals if the engine has used the other for a long time.

Stick to the VX 5W30 or 10W40 oils, no need for anything else on a modern car, the so called "high milage oils" are not necessarily beneficial for a modern engine and are likely to cause premature wear if used when not required

I had to get it changed from 10x40 to 5w30 recently. Bought Duckhams 1ltr bottle for £6.50 says on the bottle for modern ford engines yet as long as the velocsity is right.... thanks lads.
