    Default Insurance and declaring modifications

I know i could ring up but i am at work so cant till tmrw.

I declared my modifications about a week ago, Wheels, lowered and dvd player

£52 i was charged which was fine.

However recieved my amended document today and it has the Alloys down as non Manufacturer even though i stated they were but just off a higher spec model.

Do you think i need to ring them as i dont want my policy to be void for aftermarket alloys when ui havent got any fitted?

    Hope ive made some sense

I think what the insurer simply means is that the alloys you have fitted are different from those fitted at the factory and deviate from standard for your model of car. The fact that they are VX to them is besides the point. However if they are simply the same size and fitted with the same size tyres as those originally fitted, you may wish to inform them of this.

Edit: Sorry, just seen your other post and I see you have 19's. In which case the insurer would regard them as aftermarket, VX or not, and you are covered IMO.

Well they are 19" VXR alloys on a 17" Sri car.

Make sense what you have said though

I think all they mean is that they are not "factory standard" as john k sri has said. It just clarifies things as in the event of a claim they would only pay out for the wheels that were standard on your model.

I got stiffed for the 'flakes on mine, even though they were factory fit options.

Because i had kept a full spec list and pics everywhere of my old veccy i got approx 3.5K more in a payout when i wrote it off. I did not have to argue with them either, i just gave them the link to the pics and they took it from there
