Default Display of Registration Marks For Motor Vehicles

On January 18th my car went in for it`s MOT.It was only when reading this post http://forum.vectra-c.com/showthread.php?t=39440 that i was reminded of something i meant to share with everyone. My car very nearly failed it`s test because the Irmscher number plate holder i had for the rear plate of my car obscured the name and location of the outlet who supplied the number plate.
According to VOSA rules " For vehicles registered and new registration plates fitted on or after the 1st September 2001(mandatory specification) must have the name and location of the supplying outlet visable on the front and back plates.Maximum length 178mm and maximum height 13mm".
I was ok on the front plates ,but need to remember to take the plate holder off the back for MOT for next time.I only got away withit on this occasion as VOSA hadn`t put the legislation through in time.

It was put on hold as they couldn`t get the rule through on time in about October time the testing station said. They were advised just to warn people and not fail them, but it`s gonna happen unfortunately .

The stricter conditions were from 1st October 2007...

    http://www.motuk.co.uk/images/SpecialNotice08-07.pdf

it only took a few weeks to be suspended...

Can't see it taking too long for the legislation to go through properly.
