    Default Xenon Auto leveling problem

    Hi all,

I have a 3.2 GSI and got a wee problem....

Got a post regarding this in the suspension and brakes area as i thought it was related to changing springs and lowering car. Seems like it may be electrical, related to rear level sensor

As i said, i had springs changed and am now getting a warning light on dash (headlight with an up and down arrow). When i start car and switch lights on they do not move.

I put car up on jack (at rear right) and the lights auto level correctly and warning light goes out. If i leave lights on and lower jack they stay on that position and the warning light comes back on!!

Can anyone tell me where to look to check the sensor arm and wiring loom to make sure nothing obvious is amiss? Was a mate at work who used to be a mechanic that did work so cant complain too much!!!

Apologies to mods if posting roughly the same problem in two sections is wrong. Feel free to delete other thread.

    Thx for any advice.

the sensor arm is fitted to a small link arm off the nearside lower suspension arm..the sensor being mounted on the rear subframe....look about 8 " out from the inner fulcrum

i'm going to leave the old thread running..no reason to close it..

Thanks mate. I'll have a look tomorrow. Yeah it is too much of a coincidence. He's obviously bent something but would i be right in assuming that the sensor must still be OK? I'm thinking that when the car is jacked the arm is bending back down and re-engaging (??) somehow, thus the lights work OK?

All too complicated for me, i just build aircraft engines!! no auto levelling lights on those!

Thanks again for taking time replying. I appreciate it, pointed me in the right direction.

I had a fiddle with the sensor arm myself today. I had the wife sit in the car and tell me when the light went out as i was pushing and pulling the bar about (science in action!!). When i worked out which way the bar had to go to make the light go out i pushed it a bit further in that direction. Result?

The lights now dip and auto level and the light is out (For now). Bit concerned that it might slip back if i go over speedbumps, etc but at least i know sensor is OK.

    Thanks for all your help.
