    Default Garage advice

guys i wan to fit new springs to my car to lower it a bit and help the handleling. i have been quote £55 and hour and they say 4 hrs work plus 95 to realign the wheels. i think this is very steep so has anyone any ideas where i could do this cheaper or anyone who would be willing to give me a hand to do it sometime and i could get the wheels aligned somewhere cheaper. any help would be great thanks

4 hrs are they having a laugh, hour max if they know what they are doing. Took my mate a little bit over the hour an that was only because we kept stopping for tea! To be honest the lower springs will not help the handling you really need new shocks as well. I had springs first then new shocks and then the handling improved. Set of Eibachs Sport £345 will get you the handling u want and lower the car nicely. Wheel alignment should be free for a check then about £30 per adjustment/wheel. Its the Camber that will need to be adjusted. Hope that helps.

Use the Hunter wheel alignment machine if u can find a place with one.

Noticed u r in Lisburn, nice town and I like to shop in McCalls,Market St

thanks mate that would be great i am going for the springs as i was told that with the sri shock and the eibach springs that would make a hell of a difference. i emailed east coast custom in lisburn for the quote and thats what they said. i think that the only thing i dont have that i would need is the spring compressors. where you think in lisburn could sort out the wheel alignment. im just off the belsize road. wouldnt be gettin them to maybe later this month but if thats ok ill give you a shout

Spring clamps, a spanner that you can get another one inside for the top of the front strut (Ok I watched GSI32 do mine so the technical phrase eludes me!) axle stands and a jack

Mark did mine in about 2 hours just using a trolley jack and axle stand

Bilstein B6 shockers are awesome but quite expensive. Then have you looked at a front strut brace if you really want to improve handling?
