Default Warning lights since installing new springs/discs and pads

Just had new eibach springs and front discs/pads fitted due to MOT failure.

Now got the car with spanner light coming on when I start car. (Goes out a few seconds later) Manual states this is “of no consequence” but it is annoying!! Sure I had this when I first got car but it disappeared after a couple of weeks.

When this goes out I get a warning with a headlight and up and down arrows. I assume this is related to headlight auto-levelling? Is this due to car being lowered?

Any ideas on how to get rid/reset these? DO I need to have headlights reset due to car being lowered?

    Sorry for all the questions!!

right.. if you've got xenons i have to ask...did the garage that fitted the rear springs actually disconnect the rear level sensor or have they just bent it down ( damaging it in the process).. thats the only thing that i can think of that links the two things happening..The headlamp warning will need tech2 resetting and maybe a new sensor if the existing one is damaged..lowering the car on it's own ( i.e. a lower ride height) shouldn't affect the headlamps self leveling system)..

the car and spanner light is showing an old fault.. it will go in either 25 restarts or it can be switched off via tech2 as well..

    Thanks for reply

Sorry, should have said that its a GSI 3.2. '02 plate.

So they should have disconnected sensor prior to fitting springs? If not would they have had to bend it out of the way just to fit springs? Trying to understand why they would touch it in first place. (Dont know too much about these new fangled things, i'm coming from a 1988 Honda civic!!!)

The light seems to go out when i switch lights on. Does this make any difference to what it might be?

it sounds like it can't level the lights, so that makes me connect it to the rear level sensor.. it's a prime candidate for sloppy workmanship.. yes they should disconnect the arm of the sensor before removing the spring or undue pressure is applied to the sender unit..

it needs plugging in to tech2 to find out what the issue is, and you shouldn't be paying for it if it's proven to be connected to the springs fitting

Thanks again. If it was having trouble levelling the lights would the light go out when i switched lights on though?

Mechanic assured me there was enough room to remove/refit springs without disconnecting lever arm!!! Sounds like your right enough....

I'm sure he'll fix anything if it turns out he's damaged it though so shouldn't be a problem.

    cheers

Actually, the light doesn't go out and they stay at a set level rather than moving the way they did before.....

Looks like he broke something right enough....

How much is a tech2 diagnosis? Would they be able to reset the lights using this if the sensor isn't broken?

Not sure if this clears anything up but when i put the rear up on jack the warning light goes away and the lights level as normal. I left lights on and lowered the car and the light comes back on. The lights are now stuck in up position.

Does this mean that the sensor is still OK and just requires a reset? I would have thought that the sensor would either work or not? or is that too simplistic!!!???

Could mean the arm is bent slightly and its giving an out of range error maybe?

Yeah thats what i was thinking. Not sure about where the sensor (or arm) is in relation to the back right wheel. Just wanted to have a look and make sure there is nothing obvious.

Since this seems to be an electrical/sensor problem i've posted in that section.

    Thx for replies

i'm sorry, but if the light goes when you jack it, it's too much of a coincidence.....
