handbook says 80 miles. its only a toothed rubber belt though. Old cars used to have theirs changed at 40-45k, but i'm sure the technology has come on since then

it is time dependant as well thou ( they just don't tell you that in the handbook)..
No more than 5 years really for a belt...they can do too much damage ....

As Ian says, they all used to be 40K, but VX changed their mind again and put it up to 80K...but that is an absoulte maximum..I'd say that you SHOULD be safe to 60-70K but i'd never leave a belt on that long myself...

dealers say 100k miles had mine done at just short of 90k and the old belt was in really good shape most of my miles has been on the motorway in top gear.
tech told me that its not too much of a disaster on the 150 16v as if belt breaks it breaks the rockers which can be replaced, not so on the 120 8v complete **** up if it breaks on this engine!! maybe this is why they have now ditched the 120 8v.

    Default Cambelt For 1.9cdti 150

I HAD changed mine at 75k but trust me belt was same as new with no signs of wearing ( I collected old one) some wearing on tensioners but just a little. I think they are designed for 100k or more, but who knows you need to decide
