Default Nearside mirror positioning in reverse

As I'm lucky enough to have a Signum Elite with electric mirrors, it should, when the mirror switch is in the right position, lower the angle of the nearside mirror when the car is in reverse. Sometimes it doesn't though!
The odd thing is that the mirror adjustment always works. So, is there a separate motor for the reverse function?
    Anyone else seen this problem?

    Phil

You do know that to have this feature enabled you have to have the left mirror adjustment switch pushed in?

I get the same on my Vectra Elite (and yes the button is pushed in). Sometimes works sometimes not although as you say the adjustment works fine, and the reversing lights are on etc.

I assume that the controller isn't getting the signal at times so maybe a dodgy connection somewhere in the detector circuit. Mines an auto box - don't know if that is relevant or not.

Never bothered reporting or looking for it as an intermittent problem like that is always going to be a nightmare to find.

it's not on my GSi rob....

the only cars i've ever seen it working on have been Elites with the electric seat/memory seat option... and it's darn annoying as Mrs GSI's signum does the lot ( apart from make the tea)..

    Oh, yes.
It sometimes tilts, sometimes doesn't. Then it sometimes doesn't come back up again. I'm assuming that there's some kind of extra motor involved, as the normal adjustment works. Perhaps a strategic squirt of WD-40 might be in order.
