    Thumbs down Falling apart at the seams!!

    Some will know that up to recently I would not have any one say a bad word about Vauxhalls and in particular Vectras, seeing that I have had them one after another since they came out. I believe I have had 6 in total and as of last thursday I now own the worst (and only)and unreliable Vectra I have owned. In a short period of about 6 weeks I have had to replace under warranty a front spring (2 replaced as a set) a swirl valve (second one in 15 months) and now a fuel pump. What next I fear. If it keeps on going like this I will be changing to a Mazda or other Jap car with less problems (according to the driver survey).

    So in just over two years of this face lift I have had the above mentioned problems, any one else suffered this level in this short period of ownership from new etc.

    Don't think a Mazda will be any better. My Dad went from a long line of Fords to a Mazda, and he regrets it big time. The Mazda is a piece of ****.

    He won't take a telling to buy a Vauxhall. I'm on my 4th one, and had absolutely zero problems with any of them.

    Really what went wrong with it? My mate bought a Mazda 6 same time as I bought the vectra, and he hasn't needed to open the bonnet yet, apart from the usual servicing. Also I did say less problems, as nothing is gaurenteed nowadays.

    EGR, coil pack, passenger airbag fell out onto the floor after rattling for 2 months, central locking went on the fritz randomly unlocking, continual braking problems with the rear drums sticking.

    It's a Mazda 2 1.4 Capella (the top of the range one), just over 3 years old now with 18k on the clock. Brilliant driving little motor, shame it was built using the "put all the parts in a bag and shake" method.

    That makes me think now. Perhaps I should give the Vectra a stay of execution, up untill the warranty runs out at the end of November.

    Yeah but I don't look at Mazda's the way I used to, sorry! Ford use mazda's as platforms for the next generation fords:

    Mazda 3 ----> Ford Focus

    Mazda 6 ----> Ford Mondeo (New)

    I always start to question a car make when its bought over by something bigger.

    BTW Mazda's are japanese cars and brilliant (reliable, fun), but what i'm saying is they come with the 'Ford Stigma' too, personally I am not fond of Fords.

    It's the same with any car mate - you can buy a good one, or a bad one - it's totally pot luck...

    Yeh there is good makes and crap makes, but what Iam saying here is after having Vauxhalla most of my driving life, I just think the Vectras (at least) are not as reliable as they used to be. Or is it just me because I have been having a fart of a time at the mo?. I was looking to buy the new insignia when it comes out but when I was ranting up at the garage with my last problem on my " two year old car" I was advised by the garge that the new motor will have unchanged Vectra engines and electronics/electrics etc. This is basicaly a new skin job then - no? with possibly the inherent faults that the veccies undoubtably have, going by the comments on this site!!
