    Default CDTi Question

Does the 3.0 V6 CDTi have the "swirl valves" that seem to cause much heartache on the 1.9 CDTi variant?

If so, can anyone point me in its general direction?

no they havent got swirl actuator set up ....only the 1.916v has them ....but the old 2.0 and 2.2 diesel had them in basic form ...and the new vx petrol engines have them...

Any idea what would cause an intermittant power loss on the 3.0 lump then?

Sporadically, the power dies anywhere between 1800 - 3200 rpm, in any gear, hot or cold.

If I lift off the loud pedal and then put the boot down again, all power regained and she goes like the perverbial **** off a stick.

I changed the fuel filter today as a precaution but i'm not convinced this will make a button of difference.

    Confused.

they do have a problem on aceleration with the high presure fuel pump if you take it to a dealer and ask them too look at it they can check it out on the data list in the enigne ecu and confirm it is this problem ....they list some parts to be fitted to the injector pump so a new pump isnt needed but to dig it out it will be a very big job ...does the man light come on why it is loosing power?

It was at the dealer for a tech2 yesterday due to a suspected glow plug relay circuit problem (and EM Light on full-time due to this).
I kept schtoom about this power loss problem as I didnt want to put words in their mouth so to speak and it didnt show on their diagnostics. ie the only told me what I already suspected re: glow plugs etc.
Its out of warranty and I'd tend to use a local indy or get the hands dirty myself but this one has us both stumped. Too many places to look for the novice!!

    Any ideas are very welcome.

sorry but i'm not too sure what you mean here???

The glow plug problem beens to be pointing towards the relay but i've no idea where to start looking for this? I'm assuming there are at least 2 relay circuits as an indy diag. noted fault with "Glow Plug Relay Circuit B" ?

Which problem? Glow plugs or power loss? I would have though A and B would be the 2 banks of the V6.

Ref the power loss, the dealer needs to look for the fuel requested against the fuel supply I believe on the live data.
