    Default New Tyres.... At Last....

Went to Bathers in Birkenhead Toady.

Now Have Goodyear Excellence 215/50 R17's on the front.

Nobody was willing to swap to 225/45 R17's on only one axle. All 4 would have to be done.

Anyhows, took the car in and it was done in about 15 mins, tracking checked FOC and everything is spot on. Took it for a 40 mile run up the motorway to Chester and Back and they are Ghostly Quiet and very smooth.

Also, bathers did a better job of Balancing the Wheels than my local Vx Stealer.

    Cost £220

    Andrew.

The're pretty good at Bathers, are they still a family business ?

ATS tried to locate a puncture twice on my dad's Jag, Bathers found it straight away and sorted it out. The residue from the old tyre on the rim hadn't been removed before the new tyre was fitted (by ATS)

Still seems to be family owned and run - they give the rims a quick clean before fitting new tyres to them - jus the little things, but it makes a difference.

Never go to Manleys, they haven't got a clue!

Manley's changed the exhaust on my Cav years ago and were ok, they just seem a bit set in their old ways !

They trashed the exhaust manifold on my old car a few years back - and kicked off when they were told in no uncertain terms to fix it!

Also, they quoted me £100 a tyre for Barum Tyres - the ones with a ride like going over permanent potholes!

£220? Seems a little steep. I paid £198 for two 225/45-17 Goodyear Eagle F1-Asymetric fitted.

Bizarre they wouldn't change the size though - I had no problems when I changed sizes an axle at a time on my Corsa, or the last Astra.

nice to see it's not just the tyre fitters in northampton that won't change just two tyres, when changing the profile

It's because of the profile mate, most of the tyre places charge over the odds for 215/50/17's

Snap...had Excellence tyres put on the car at Micheldever Tyres a few months ago, £100 each and £20 to align. Thought they were smooth and quiet just like you. Still very happy with them.

The new F1's are a nice tyre too, much quieter than the Contis they replaced on the back, and WAY quieter than the rubbish Vredsteins on the front.
