Talking Dent sorted Now it's tyre time

Got the car back this week after having the dented wing and scraped bumper sorted. Got to say it looks good as new, and it's got rid of my stonechips on the bumper

I was aware that the tyres were getting a bit low on the front so thought it about time I had a look around to see what was available. After what seems like endless reading and different opinions I thought i'd just go to my friendly local tyre place to see what they recommended.
After chatting with the guy there for a while, he recommended I stay away from Falken, Kumho, Continental and a few others and said that the best for me would probably be the Toyo T1-R.
Reason he gave were that they have a very stiff sidewall, which gives the rim a bit more protection from crap roads, but does give a harsh ride.

He also asked if I had checked the rear tyres. I expected there to be loads of tread left, 19k on the fronts is not bad but would expect to get a load more from the rears. However to my shock, they were only a fraction less worn than the fronts.

So had to bite the bullet and order 4 new tyres to be fitted on monday, So that's my wallet £600 or so lighter

I see Toyo have replaced the T1-R, so they should be getting cheaper. Replaced by the Proxes 4.

Your fitter was right about Contis, worst tyre ever. Replaced the remaining two on the Astra last week with Eagle F1-A, best thing I ever did.
