Default CDC40 Opera Loses Stored Stations !!!

Once the Station has been programed into a location (1 > 9 Etc) I can then switch between stored stations by pressing, 1, or 3 or 5 Etc,
But once the car has been turned of & locked up for a few hours the Number buttons don't work, The car stereo does stay tuned into the last listened to sation, You just cannot flick between the previously stored ones !!

    AM i missing something !!??

    Cheers

    Dean

Sound like the permenant live feed is not connected. This keeps the constant memory after switch off.

Thats a wee bug, my old veccy done that and the wifes does it.

Vauxhall do not know what it is, and cannot fix it.

I noticed it only does it in winter when it gets very cold. I suspect an EEPROM issue.

Mine does this as well - seems to be about a few weeks before it loses them though. It is the latest DAB unit, which is MP3 compatible (2008MY) if this helps

I finally got fed up of reprogramming it and took it into Marshalls in Leicester this morning.

They had a look at it and came back to tell me that it is a known fault and that Vaux/Opel are investigating with Bosch (I guess they make the units) about a software update to correct it.

The guy on the service desk showed me the Vaux Tech info sheet which explained it. He said they would ring up the tech centre on Monday and find out when/if there is a SW update available, and then ring me back with an update. Said no point putting in another stereo unit, as most likely issue would still be there.

Hope this helps. I'll update when I know more.

I had the same issue with my CDC40 but only with the DAB stations.

The unit was replaced under warranty no quibbles at all. and this solved the problem

My CDC 40 Opera has also suffered from this fault for the past 18 months. When I requested a warranty repair, the local dealer (Drive Vauxhall, Leicester) referred the problem to Vauxhall. Their dealer's service department handed me a copy of a Vauxhall technical briefing, which instructs dealers to await further instructions and in the meantime, not to replace radios under warranty.

I have enquired about progress repeatedly and the dealer has told me that Vauxhall are still investigating the fault.

In desperation, I did write to the managing director of Vauxhall Motors and received a letter and phone call from his PA, who told me they could do nothing until investigations were complete. I told her that the continued delays and lack of urgency were unacceptable. I also pointed out that the loss of channel presets had safety implications, because drivers would be tempted to retune the radio manually whilst driving.

When I threatened to publicise the problem via the Honest John column in the Daily Telegraph, Vauxhall decided to replace my radio "as a gesture of goodwill". The dealer fitted a new radio, which lost all of the DAB presets 30 minutes later. I was not pleased and felt I had come up against the proverbial Brick Wall.

I was on the point of writing to Honest John, when I discovered this forum, which indicates that a batch of replacement radios is on its way from Eastern Europe. Has that infomation come from Vauxhall? If so, I do hope the info is reliable !
