    Does it really matter??

I don't even own a HD TV, or do I feel I need to. They all look the same to me anyway, I really honestly can't tell the difference from more than a few feet away. Prob because I hate wearing my specs at home.... so I don't wear them.

I still have reservations about blu ray - yeah has a double sided capacity of 54GB, but I fear it will be another Sony Laser Disc and a more prominent storage media will pop up - look at the DVD variations.

I will sya one thing though owning a HD TV, really shows the DVD in its true colours (literally - as you can see where the mpeg has compressed all those bytes) - overpriced Video CD, but £30 is too dear for a Blu ray disc - just now.

have u notice the price has fallen quite sharply for HD-DVD i think the makers of these are getting worried so only way to win is to flood the market with cheap HD-DVD's

i brought the HD drive for my 360.
only because i got a load of HD films for free.

so far this technology has cost me £90 and i have a small collection of quality films.

i'll just buy a blu-ray when they become so cheap they're in asda like dvd is now.

Well it's not over yet. Tri layer HD-DVD's are just around the corner and all players will be able to read the discs with a firmware update, so the capacity issue is moot. the big thing is film studio support, but europe and america are slightly different anyway. we shall see.
