    Default Battery.

My battery died yesterday - I was cleaning out the interior for approx 2-3 hours.

When i came to start the car.....nothing, just a clicking sound!

I bought a battery that the shop said was for the car, but when I got it home its quite a lot smaller.

Battery on car was a Vx one said 12V 300A 66Ah

the battery I have been sold is 300A 59Ah i think?

    Will this be ok?

The important figure here is the "ah" part, this refers to the batteries capacity. It stands for amp hour, meaning the amount of amps you battery can give in an hour before it goes flat.
The bigger this figure is, the bigger the capacity the battery has, the one you have been sold is smaller than the original, which is far from ideal, at least get as close to the original figure as possible.
At the end of the day, IMO, you are better off having a bigger battery than the original rather than smaller, so long as it physically fits in the battery tray, the bigger the better.

AFAIK VX don't do a 66Ah battery any more. I've recently bought a
71Ah "GO" battery for my 2.0T . I suggest that you need one of those or the next size up for your GSI.

yeah, 59AH is a bit small..As GG has said, the biggest AH won't hurt.. but oo small leaves you little in reserve..
