Default Help with which oil (3.0 V6 CDTI)

Right ive got the 3.0CDTI on a 04 plate.

Now i was after getting a litre bottle of oil just inacase i need to top up the oil which has hardly budged since i had it changed/filter 10k ago. But id like some anyway you never know.

Now in the service book the vauxhall mecha men have it written down as 10-40 oil. But the man in the local motor parts store shows on his castrol list as 0-30? now im assuming to top it up i should use the same oil as the change? but which is right?

on a side note, my car has done 67k miles now and i was looking to change it for something allot more economic as im no longer long distance travelling. And it spends allot of the time sitting doing nowt these days except eating up insurance and tax money. Its a 04 elite 3.0CDTI Auto 67k and in good nick minus the odd stone chip, but the vauxhall part ex they said to me it was worth 4.5k money (now its that a **** take or the real amount as i paid more than that for it.) any thoughts or what price i should aim to sell it at privately. ????

As for the oil, vx have put the 10-40 in it as its cheaper. It should have 0-30 in it. The 10-40 is only really any good for 10K service intervals where the 0-30 is supposed to be ok for 20-30k .

As for the price, thats about what I was offered on mine a little while ago on a trade in
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

thanx Big. The VX chap told me they arnt desirable ? Well i see a few around and most people love them for a fast diesel. Thing is i can imagine seeing it if i traded it in at 7-8k on a VX forecourt and that would annoy me some.

I thought 10-40 would be done due to cost about a fiver in it per litre at the local motor shop.

People seem to see the 3.0 badge and run a mile. As a diesel its also pretty good on fuel if driven correctly, but there is some truth in that.

With mine being a Signum the dealer told me mine was even harder to sell on as not many people want them. Although I'm sure some of that is due to their selling techniques more than anything. The salesman didn't know what to say when I asked if he would tell any potential buyers that when they came into look at their Elite Signum on their forecourt!
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

Never belive a salesman. They tell lies. As you say all techniques to make you give in and let your car go cheaper.

I know, mine was nicer than the elite, only a few more miles too. Still, its why I still have it!

I dont know why the 3.0 is deemed as not desirable? . The fuel consumption is more ecomonical than the best petrol engine (2.2 Direct) and much faster. I know I've had both!

dealers will tell you anything if you had a 1.9cdti he would have told you there was loads of them and would have offered you a 5hit price too
