    Default Fitting a saab turbo

was looking at the engine spec of the saab 9-3 2.0t compared to the z20net. the saab is making 207bhp and the z20net is making 175bhp, all of the specs are the same and as far as i can see the only difference is the turboand cams, do u reckon i would gain from fitting the turbo and cams from the saab? the 207bhp saab is running the Mitsubishi TDO4 turbo with different cams and the 175bhp saab and vectra run the garrett gt20

I was asking Abbott Racing about this and they wouldn't give me a straight answer, e-mailed him and always got useless answers and he ended up saying to bring the car and see what he can do so I bought a BSR stage 1.

I reckon it can be done just a bit of work to get it there.

i was reading through a few saab forums and owners who have converted to the Mitsubishi TDO4, they all seemed to run the same map just on higher boost, so i reckon with it fitted to the bsr stage 3 it would go like stink, both engines are the same so turbo should bolt straight on its just the oil feed nipples need changed as they dont fit the vectra, jus need to source a td04 now

It'll need different software to control the different turbo effectively, not sure how you'd manage that.

Mark, interesting comments there about Abbott. They keep claiming they can do remaps and that conversion on our engines, but nothing ever comes of it. On the Saab 175 version it'd be easier as they just change the parts and put the software from the 210 version in. Probably not as straightforward on the Vx variant as the TD04 isn't used (just the Garret GT2052S), so there's no simple software swap.

They don't even list anything for the vec/sig anymore. I went to them as I was planning on switching the turbo as well and basically making it the 210Bhp model, but TBH he didn't have a clue originally said I would get 250Bhp from a remap until I corrected him. There good with Saabs and I suppose thats where their business is and they should stay there

the software between the 175bhp and 207bph has all the same parameters just higher bosst pressure, so if u were running the bigger turbo on our engine with the stage 3 bsr i couldnt really see there being any complications

Except the Stage 3 software will be expecting to be controlling a Garret GT2052S, not a Mitsi TD04, so it's not going to control it correctly - and end up with either no greater performance, and loads of lag, or something more detrimental.

I bet BSR could make a stage 4 or 5 like this:
    http://en.bsr.se/products/t798/
Another that I think could fix it is Nordic with their Concept Extreme as can be seen here:
