Default Which TV Would You Opt For?

Well the warranty Co. has written off my TV, and are giving me a replacement.

It has to be supplied via Comet, & cannot cost anymore than £1499.99

They offered me a Sony 46' Bravia LCD, this one
    http://www.comet.co.uk/cometbrowse/p....do?sku=432393

But I quite like the look of the Samsung 46', this one
    http://www.comet.co.uk/cometbrowse/p....do?sku=389617

So what do you reckon, what would you have?

If you can find something else you think is better, it has to be from comet, max £1499 etc etc then any suggestions taken.

If I find something else I want then I can have it, but obvioulsy I want the best spec set I can get.

TV will be for general use, everyday stuff and Xbox 360 action.....!!

You want a plasma for that size tv, try this tele is a really good unit:- http://www.comet.co.uk/cometbrowse/p...=specification

Have a look at this link and the guy will tell you all about them.

I've got a 42" plasma panasonic and its great, i then went for a 32" samsung lcd for the conservatory for general tv and the ps3 and its crap in comparison.

To be honest i'd stay away from both. My mate sold and fitted these for 3/4 years and said the 4 to buy are Panasonic, Sharp, Philips and pioneer. I went for a Philips 42" lcd hd 1366p and i'm glad i picked it.

Mushy is right about the size thing.

I have 2 full HD (1920-1080) 100mhz Sony 46" LCD TV's & am very happy with them. Both are about 4 meters away from where we sit & watch so the pics are awesome. However, if you are looking at buying a 46" LCD & will be watching it from less than 3 meters away you are better off getting a Plasma or a 32" or 40" LCD. That is just how LCD works. The closer you are the worse the picture looks, even in full HD tv because of the pixelation. To be future proofed you need a full HD TV.

The well known rules for LCD & Plasma are thus:
    1. LCD are better at 40' & under. (However LCD's with the new 100mhz technology just about fix this size/quality issue, but not entirely. Sony call this new feature 100mhz Motionflow)
    2. Plasma are better above 40".

Remember, full HD (1920-1080) LCD will probably win this flat panel battle & plasma will just fade away onto the sunset. LCD are cheaper to produce & cheaper to run & are rapidly getting better & better.

    Have fun making a decision

I've got a 50" Sony LCD, but then bought a 42" Samsung Lcd for the father in law. In my opinion the Samsung is far better and after two years, is holding it's colour/contrast much better.

Sony all the way. I love my 40" Bravia and it had the richest colour balance of all the screens I looked at.
