I haven`t done it myself, but from what I`ve read, yes, just prime and paint, but I might suggest that you sand the chrome a little to improve the adherence...and a clear coat on top for the final touch HTH
Sand the chrome to a matt finish, prime, paint and clear coat. Make sure you sand down the final coat of paint before you spray the clear aswell.
I did my pre facelift grill myself and it looked spot on but i'm a bit dubious about doing the facelift 'v' as it's a lot larger and it with it been silver lightning it'll be harder to get a colour mach aswell so i might get it done t a body shop.
i have painted my pre facelift standard grill you also need plastic primer then primer them paint and laqure

has anyone painted the mesh grills to match the bumper would you think it would look good i am thinking of painting the fogs and the bottom grill what do you think

what grade paper should i use? and where exactly is the color code located mine is sapphire black.
