It allways happens in the rain!! I had this happen to me when it was raining, but it was the Vectra B. I believe the C Veccies can be troublesome in this department as well. Touch wood it has never happened to me.

Aparantly not - it got slightly jammed and he mounted a grass verge too.

It's held together now with a tie wrap as a safety measure

Not sure exactly what blew on mine, but one of the windscreen wipers failed during a downpour last year. T'other one kept working.
    Fixed under warranty.

Happened to me last week - passenger side only, but thanks to this forum got it fixed with a couple of cable ties until I can get to the dealers to get it fixed under warranty.

It happened to me as well.

The drivers sides continued to work for a short while. The connection for the 2 wiper linkages are ball jointed to the drive mechanism on either side. What happened to mine was that the central pin, which is a splined press fitted into the drive arm, had become loose. This then wobbled about, and the wiper arm ball joints separated and the wipers stopped working.

I could have purchased a new mechanism, however, all that it needed was the central pin welding back in position on the drive arm and the 2 linkage ball joint 'clicking' on after a dab of copper grease applied. I did put a tie wrap around the linkages for good measure, but it's been fine ever since.

So, not all failures require new parts (if you have the skill and equipment of course)
