Default Always Remove your sat nav

Just a quick reminder to everyone to remove their tom toms etc every single time they leave the car, I popped into a shop yesterday for a box of tissues, car was parked off the road in the spaces for shoppers, i was gone no more than 2 minutes, and had my window put thru and my tom tom stolen. This is probably the first time i have ever left it int he car when i've got out, and can't beleive my luck.

So far i've paid £70 window excess, and my excess for theft is £200 so i would lose my no claims discount for the sake of the insurers putting £80 towards my new tom tom. I NEED the tom tom for work, otherwise my job becomes a nightmare, so i will be left around £350 out of pocket, because of some scruffy little chavs in leeds.

Yesterday i was in shock more than angry, but today i'm seething.

Sorry for the rant, but i've just had my entire xmas competely ****ed up.

Firstly mate. I'm sorry to hear about your misfortune.

That's the best argument yet for window tints. The scum can't see in to see what you've got and they also can't break the window with the film on.

****** hell thats awful, sorry to hear that. I must get better at taking mine out..... I am asking for it, even after hearing others being pinched. Half the time, like yourself, you only pop in a shop - just shows you.

You have my sympathy, mate. it's so ****** annoying.
On top of that, if you have a seperate mounting bracket for your Sat Nav device, take that out as well. The low lifes and junkies who want to steal your stuff have worked out that a car with a bracket may have a piece of kit hidden somewhere that they can sell to get their next fix, so they'll brick your window just to have a rummage.

Barstewards. Nice world we live in, isn't it?

I firmly believe that what goes around comes around.

I Hope so, ploughing their car into a wall at 3 figure speeds and all suffering a slow painful death, then the police giving me my tom tom back would probably make me feel a little better.

Sorry to hear that Pendo - thieving ba***rds.

I read somewhere recently that the police are advising motorists to remove the SatNav, the bracket AND clean the round suction mark off the windscreen each time you leave the car as the toerags look for the suction mark as well!!!

I hope some little s**t doesn't pan in my window one day as even though I take the PDA with me each time, the way my bracket is installed means I can't easily remove it - so they may think something is in the car.

Makes you mad, you can't leave something in the car for two minutes without some scrote thinking they'll have it for themselves.

Agree with what Alex said about tints, and one reason why I'm going to get them. As well as making stuiff harder to see, the film stops them getting in.

Im sure when i had my wondow put through it was because they could see the sat nav bracket stuck to the window.

Note to Alex.... Dont be fooled by the 'security aspect' of tints mate. I had a friend with tints who had his car broken into. The tints made it far easier as all they did was smash the window. The glass stayed together like laminated glass and didnt fill the car with shards like normal toughened does. All they did then was cut around the window opening with a pen knife and lift the whole window out in one peice. No broken glass everywhere for them to crawl through.
