    Vehicle : Vectra

    Trim : Edition 100

    Engine : 2.0T

    Year : 04

Default Dont know which engine to get?????????

I dont have a Signum yet but I'm wandering what size engine to go for . At the mo im driving a 2.6 V6 Vectra GSI, and have totally fallen in love with the V. Top of the idea list is a 3.2 V6 Design or Elite followed by the 3.0cdti.

Fuel consumption is not really a factor neither is insurance. Ultimately, i should go to a dealers and try them out but the local VX stealers mainly deal in 1.2 Corsas and if your lucky you might see a green Megane.

If anyone can give there own opinion of how a 3.2 V6 or 3.0cdti compares to each other and my 2.6 V6 from experience, I'd be very greatful.

Any advice would also be made very welcome.

    Many thanks

    Cheech

    Hi
if you want pulling power get the 3.0cdti its awesome
mum has replaced her 3.0 24v Omega for the Vectra 3.0CDTi , she won,t go back to V6 petrol!
the vectra simply blows the omega away
the 3.2 V6 is a good engine but lacks the low down punch of cdti

    3.0CDTi is FLIPPING FANTASIC

Here's a cheaper option. Get a 1.9 CDTi and you'll save a fortune as there's a lot more of them about. The V6 CDTi's are hadrer to get hold of. Then fit a tuning box to the 1.9. This takes the 1.9 to well over what a standard V6 is. The V6 with a tuning box has to be booted to keep up with a 1.9 with a box fitted.

Mind you the V6 CDTi does sound good

I've got the 3.2 Elite and do like it - lovely growl when you give it some. I would however like a bit more punch especially in 5th at cruising speeds.

It will be interesting to see if the remap materialises and sorts this out. Would think an engine this size should be able to handle a few more horses and torque things. Don't know about the gear box though.

or get a 2.0T and get it remapped!! Mines quicker than a 1.9 CDTi with tuning box (ask Alex (AJA) - we drove each others recently! ), holds it's own with a 3.2 GSi (and even maybe a bit quicker) and felt quicker than a 3.0 CDTi with a tuning box (although I think it was turned down a bit at the time, would need a further comparison).

The 3.2 and 3.0 are nice engines but are noticeably heavier on the front end - makes the handling a bit heavier. The 2.0T is a good bit lighter and therefore that bit livelier handling.

Duncan's 2.0T is a fast car mate (possibly the fastest on here), but once you realise how a diesel needs to be driven you find that a tuned diesel will hold it's own with a high powered petrol.

The next Santa Pod meet will seperate the men from the boys; aint that right Duncan.

    Absolutely!

Cheech, you're best bet is to try and drive as many of the engines as possible. If you think you'll have a remap/tuning box then try and meet up with guys that have them on their engines and have a go.

You're welcome to have a go of mine one day - if we ever meet up.

Yep the 1.9 with a tuning box is very powerful & responsive. Feels like a bigger engine than it is.

I'm interested in seeing a 3.0 cdti in action as well.
