    Default Smoking 1.9CDTi 150

I have a '54 plate 1.9CDTi 150. Driving today there was some blue/black smoke from the exhaust when accelerating and an acrid/exhaust smell when stoped.

Noticed it on the way to over to the witch in laws and the smell when the car was stoped. There has recently been a smell from the vents on cold start up but have read that this may be from a cold diesel cat. Bit of a smell again on start, but could not check the smoke as it was dark.

Thanks in advance fro any help/advice.

blue/black smoke is either oil burning ( very bad) or overfuelling ( not so bad)..

you need to check in daylight and see if it still does it...

Does it have the DPF ? Diesel particulate Filter..

When these are Regenerating the car does smoke & stink..

    Thanks for the speedy response.

Have had it out in the daylight today, ran it stationary no sign of smoke, took it out and warmed it up on the motorway and drove quite hard, again no sign of smoke. Where is the DPF and is the smoke the only indication of the re-gen cycle?

The Dpf is infront of ( But joined to) The centre Cat.

Some info here with regards to identifying.

I had the latest regeneration software put on mine & the dealership could not tell me if any Visual warning now illuminated prior & during the Regen process, So Who knows, Previously it used to illuminate & flash the Glow plug Light, But it didn't this time !!
