Thread: Simple Test...

    Default Simple Test...

Karl and myself were looking at the VXR EDS 300 remap dyno graph yesterday evening.

It says that the remap should provide 300 PS... which is about 295 BHP

It also says that the remap should privide 400 Lbft torque which is 520 NM (a massive increase over the standard 280 BHP map)

Karl thought this was bollox as his car is pushing 360 Lbft and thats a tuned Diesel and there is no way the VXR would have 520 NM as a brand new Porsche 911 Carrera only has 370 NM, and the Mitsubishi FQ360 only has 492 NM (and thats the fastest manic Evo they do !!). So after some thought.... he suggested that we do a test as he initially reckoned the VXR should be around 300 Lbft...

Drive along in 3rd gear at 45 mph and accellerate hard and see if the cars are evenly matched.

    Guess what happened........

Nutron initially pulled away, but you soon caught him and sailed by.

EDIT: Hang-on, 3rd gear!!! You simply pulled away. Did you try it in 4th?

Well, Spoons is obviously telling this story from his special view of life but I did think it was unlikely that it was making 400lbft, up from 260lbft as standard. So knowing that the VXR has only a slightly smaller 3rd gear, I thought putting them both under peak torque and then flooring it would quickly determine the truth.

Before the remap I pulled harder in third than the VXR but now it clearly pulls away. So I was very impressed by the increase in torque and I have slashed his tyres this morning.

    Edit :

They don't do the 400 anymore

Spoons, have you done the 30-70 test yet? (see if its quicker than the VXRD )

    lol....

We also did some tests with his 'Performance Box by Race Logic' which calculates wheel horse power based on the inputted weight of the vehicle and rate of accelleration.

Nutron set it up for the right figures for his car first, and then stuck it in the VXR for a direct comparison.

It estimated the VXR power as 237 BHP at the wheels, which comes out as approximately 295 BHP at the flywheel. bang on.

It also showed the VXR maximum G-Force accelleration in 2nd gear at 0.56G

It also showed the VXR maximum G-Force deccelleration at 0.98G (now thats stopping power, especially in the wet !!)
