    Default Convince me either way...

Starting to think about changing the car. Warranty is valid til Nov 2008 but I like to change a few months before. So looking at the summer 4 changing. The thing is, I am struggling to decide on which model to go for.The choices I am torn between are a 3.0 V6 or a VXR. So come on guys, help me out, lets have your pros and cons for both models, 6,048 heads are better than one

    Vxr 300

The VXR (although an old shape, once the Insignia is released) will still be the current VXR model... well into 2009.

    Go for it.

VXR for me if the fuel costs aren't an issue and you're not planning on doing mega miles in it.

Really depends on your exact circumstances and what you want out of the car/will be using it for.

As far as fuel is concerned, I won't be doing as much running around the country for my daughters Karate competitions this year because there are more parents willing to share the driving plus one of her England Squad mates from our club has just passed his test so he will be driving them to Liverpool once a month. The wife is getting a little car for work, so I won't have to run her to and from. I really am leaning towards the flagship, I am just aware I can get a newer v6 for the same money. Decisions decisions

Though Spoons has just discovered the VXR and apperantly given it a new name & status *lol* , I had one long enough to live & get bored with, and sell it , so .. Cons of the VXR are basically the fuel bill and noise, they certainly like to drink petrol if driven like you want to, if you are not going to give it beans then why bother having one ! Then there is the noise, at first it is cool, that big V6 growl behind you, then it gets very tiresome !!! Pros outweigh the cons considerably, the seats are very comfy, the interior is a cut above the rest of the range, it is very quick when mapped (again not M5 fast, but fast nonethe less ) , and contrary to spoons opinion the brakes are very good standard, I certainly had no issues with the remap and the brakes, they were great . Also exterior looks are better on the vxr than the 3.0 cdti, really the only reason to but a cdti over the vxr would be for fuel & noise imo ..

Also fast depreciation on the VXR is to be considered, which is why you can pick a cheap one up I guess, but the cdti will hold its value better imo ..

Depends what you want. Personally, I'd go for the 3.0V6 and hope they manage to write a remap for it....

I couldn't live with the fuel costs or insurance of the VXR..
