When the air con is switched on should the revs rise like most other cars do as mine is not?

The engine has to work a little harder when there is a load put on the electrics so it does speed up a bit to compensate.
I cant hear it kicking in and its hard to tell if its working as its so ****** cold outside at the moment but when the windscreen is misted if i turn on the fan to demist the window it takes ages but if i switch on the aircon it will demist it in a matter of seconds?
Ah so is it an electric pump rather than belt driven?
At low outside temperatures the cooling unit (cooling compressor) switches off automatically - so that'll be why you won't hear it kicking in or the revs rising. But it'll still condition the air, hence why it will still demist the screen more quickly.
I'm pretty sure its belt driven with a magnetic clutch unit. My rev's don't rise
Ok cheers guys thats great it aint broken thats good to hear lol. Thanks for your help on the matter apreciate it
