    Default Air con?

When the air con is switched on should the revs rise like most other cars do as mine is not?

Should normally rise a bit as the compressor kicks in. Are you getting conditioned air? i.e. is the Air Con working as normal and the compressor actually kicking in?

The engine has to work a little harder when there is a load put on the electrics so it does speed up a bit to compensate.

Ah so is it an electric pump rather than belt driven?

At low outside temperatures the cooling unit (cooling compressor) switches off automatically - so that'll be why you won't hear it kicking in or the revs rising.

But it'll still condition the air, hence why it will still demist the screen more quickly.

Yep, but when it does kicks in, i.e. the clutch engages, it'll be putting more load on the engine so the revs will rise a bit accordingly.

Maybe, but when switching the CC to eco and back it only flucuates a little, but they do not stay at a constant risen level as they did in my old astra. Unless the quick rise is what you all mean?
