    Default Dropping Revometer

    Hi there,

    First post on the forums.

I'm looking into buying a Vectra C 52 Reg, the 2.0 TDi Model.

The current owner has told me that whilst driving the revometer drops to 0 and sticks. He then said that turning off and turning back on the car will rectify it.

What could be the problem and am I looking at an arm and a leg to fix?

Also, Whats the Life expectancy on the 2.0 TDi Engine? Its on 106k Miles.
Are there any tell signs of faults to look out for.

    Thanks,

    Craig

sounds like a loose wire somewhere tbh. Maybe only a loose cable to the binacle. The 2ltr dti is a touch slow tbh. It has some known issues (best doing a search fro them on here)

If possible I would search for a 1.9 CDTi if you can, they are alot better to drive, and (if you get a 150bhp one) both quicker and better on fuel.

The 120 bhp version is about the same on fuel as the 2ltr but is quicker.

going back to your fault.. it sounds like either a wiring issue, or the infamous CIM module is causing the problem..if it's the CIM, thats £400....

DTi's , if they've been well serviced every 10,000, will see 150,000+ quite easily but they do have a few issues a said before.
