Default another 'water in boot' question

    Hi everyone

I spent most of this morning trying to sort out a small leak i have in the boot of my vectra.

Water drops are gathering at the base of the boot where the side panels meet the boot floor, behind the seam sealant.

I took out all the interior boot trim, pushed my hand up the inside of the C pillar, right up past the rear quarter window and it was damp. Lots of small water drops up there, which i guessed were gradually running down into the boot.

Thinking it was probably coming from the aerial base, I dropped the headlining, removed the aerial base and re-sealed using silicon.

I then poured litres and litres of water all over the back end, over rear lights, quarter windows and aerial and no more water!

    Great!

Until now, its been raining all afternoon so i just checked it again now and the inside of the C pillar is damp (quite high up inside there too) and more water drops in boot!!

Where could it be leaking from? looks too high to be from quarter window?
    Maybe its lots of condensation?

    sorry for long post

ah ha, been out today and found the same on mine!
I was thinking there is much too much water in there for it to be from the ariel so was suspecting the rear quarterlights. Could be condensation building up in the C pillar.

Check these out, first pic is the wheel well (including puddle) and the second is inside the O/S/R cubby hole in the boot, it is getting in the other side as well but can't see it as easily. The sheer amount of water running down made me think there was too much for it to be the ariel.

On second thoughts, might put a perspex window in the boot carpet, some neons and a couple of fish. Pimp it right out!

Thats different to mine. On second pic, that huge rectangular hole at the bottom with the black wire going into, if i put my arm right up there i can feel dampness on the inside of the C pillar. It's on O/S and N/S, but worse on N/S which is worrying as the fusebox, Canbus wiring etc is there.

This dampness is gradually trickling down the inside of C pillar into base of boot. I was thinking aerial, but i sealed that today.

If its bad condensation, is there a vent in boot somewhere that might be blocked?

If it was the ariel leaking then the condensation will still be in there till you dry the car right out on a hot day or put a heater or an absorbant material in there.
There may be vents, I cant remember but behind the rear bumper each side is ringing a bell for some reason.

After i sealed up aerial i dried everywhere out. The hatch was open for about an hour, i felt up inside the pillars and they were bone dry.

I poured loads of water all over the back of the car a few times to check, and all seemed OK. Been for a drive with the heating on today too. I was pretty pleased with myself until i checked it after a few hours of rain and felt the dampness up inside the rear C pillars again.

It does seem to be condensation up there, but maybe its condensation caused by water leaking in from the quarter windows?

When I get a chance, I'm gonna park on a slope with the front highest and put a mate in the boot while I hosepipe the O/S/R Quarterlight. Not going anywhere near the ariel, if it starts coming in as per second pic above then thats the source.

Of course it might have been getting in via the ariel as well but you have already taken care of that.

By the way did you have a stain on your headlining or did you have to take it down to see where the leak may be coming from?

Cheers Andy, checked that on mine. Thankfully the carpet is dry, the water is bypassing it.
