Default Heated rear screen element repair

    Hi folks,

I have noticed that the bottom four lines of the heated rear screen on my vec have been damaged by the previous owner by pulling what looks like a dealer sticker off the window!!

Who on earth would put a sticker over the heated screen element or worse still pull one off it!!!

It's a fair sized area, probably at least six inches wide. I reckon that a new rear screen is needed for this fix but does anyone know of a cheaper alternative?
I know you can get repair paint but would that sort out such a large area?

think it would be too fiddly to 'patch' the strips,if at all possible... not sure if they are under some kind of bond ?!

I had a good few go on my car before last when the windows were tinted, which is why i'm reluctant to get it done on the vectra...

watch you don't "get a stone chip" and have to claim your insurance sure the windscreen excess is cheaper than a new one out the shop

Estate window £600 or £60 excess. UI think all policys cover all glass not just the front but don't think it covers the heating elements. I feel a brick coming on

Numpty dealers, that's who!!! I see it all the time on cars - they stick their dealer stickers on the inside, right over the elements. They don't think to put them at the top where there's no elements!! Anyone who doesn't know better just pulls them off, along with elements.

My current car had the same. I had to gently pull the sticker off 'along' the glass, as opposed to off the glass if you see what I mean and managed to do it without any damage.

As for repair, I seemed to have it in my head that Vx did a repair kit. I'll check.

maybe they deliberately place them there so you dont try to remove them incase of any damage to the element.

    Thanks for your responses peeps...
    £400 for a new one!!!

That would be great if you could check that repair kit our for me Duncan

If no joy with a repair kit I was mulling over possible 'insurance jobbies'.
As it's the back window.... Is it possible / feasible to get a stone chip in the rear screen? What about....'it just went BANG when I shut the hatch!'

Any members got any suggestions??? maybe there should be a poll!!
