Default Vectra Crankshaft Pulley - UK Pandemic??

My 53 plate 2.0DTI crankshaft pulley went 2 weeks ago and Vauxhall are quoting back orders with a minimum delivery of 18 feb!!!! Some dealers are saying that they have had a rush for the items!! One essex delership stated they have sold 23 this week!

Like Suspension Springs, is this another vectra/signum part that is not fit for purpose??

Maybe Vauxhall could comment, who knows? As reports that some pulleys have failed after 20K and £130 a time is a 'tad' expensive!!!

You are the 3rd person in 3 days to report this mate.

My 2.2DTi did a pulley as well, although i was very lucky and sourced one from a member on here..(mine failed at 38k)

It does seem they are not up to the job, But when you get a new one, Vauxhall sell 2 sorts, A standard one the same as what you already have for about £120, or an uprated one for £155. Make sure you get the uprated one.(Parts man in Camdens told me this, and people still buy the cheap ones!)

Speak to Tam(T4M VX) as he has spoken to someone who is looking into the authenticity of these no stock claims..

Although it pains me to say it, the C is a bit of a dog really, I remember saying to the parts guy before mine was murdered "I don't think I'll be having another one" that of course was a bit of a reaction statement to what had just been repaired for the 2nd time in 35k, and I nearly did buy another, but this car isn't representative of what Vx normally build, it's fragile to say the least, don't know if the rest of the range is the same, I hope not, took Vx a long time to rid the demon's of the 60-70's and if they do it all again to save a few pounds on penny parts it'll be a shame.

26k on mine, and nothing has broken or dropped off (yet!). But, early days: I normally run them until 95k or thereabouts...

Its not just a Vectra problem its the same for any 2.0 DTI, been on going for months as I remember this when I used to work for Vauxhall.

I believe its a specific problem on the DTi's only.

Can't fault the Vectra C or Signum, yes I had to have the flywheel replaced on my first 04 reg one, but 140,000 , miles on 2 1.9 CDTi 150's and 1 3.0 V6 CDTi and I have never been left at the side of the road.

You will always get good and bad ones but I can't fault them, just about to hit 5000 miles in the Astra 1.9 150 and again, no faults.
