Default How Many miles on a 19" Tyre

    Hi,

This might have been answered already so sorry if Im making anyone repeat themselves..

Thinking of getting 19's for my 2.0 Turbo Sri and wondered what sort of mileage I could be getting out of the rubber for them.. think the size would be 235/35/19 - Looked on some of the threads lots of suggestions on tyres but cant see any comments on mileage.. Ta muchly.

I had Yokohama's (235/35/19) on my old vec and did over 10,000 miles (until i wrote it off) The tyres were only half worn then if that. It all depends on the roads, driving style etc m8 Up and down a motorway all day will do far less damage than a few blasts down the back lanes

Softer tyres will wear out quicker, harder tyres will last longer. Some people get 6k out of a front set, others will get 20k.

Performance tyres tend to be sticky and soft...cheap tyres tend to be not so sticky and hard. Go with a good manufacture and see how it goes if you don't like them move onto another make when they wear out.

Personally I stick with the OEM tyres, Conty's Contact Sport 2's without rotation abouy 18k on the fronts and 28k on the rears. Grip is great in the dry and not bad in the wet. About £175 ish a corner....quite a lot but value for money imho.

Hmm... thanks for that.. ok doesnt sound too bad... I got about 20k on my Hankooks before, but they just felt a bit slippy. Have had Kumho's which were good - again about 20k and now have 4x 215/50/17 Falken (Ze512's?) which are really good and good price too..
Would probably look at Kumhos or Falkens again - I wouldnt rule out Conti's etc.. just the cost of them that scares me! Not too heavy footed but enjoy a good blast on a clear road (in good conditions with no other traffic and observing the speed limit of course:-))

It's more hard acceleration, cornering and braking that wear tyres out quicker.

If you get 19's you will also want a tyre with some more kerb protection because you will kerb they, we all have and will do in the future.

The car will also handle a bit better, which means you may push it a bit more and hence more wear.

look at it as cost per mile and how many times a year you would have to change....that's what I do...oh and try and change only 2 at a time...otherwise it can be scary!
