    Default 2.0 TDi Economy

Having just aqcuired my Vectra I have calculated my mpg at 54. Am I impressed or what!

This is based on using a full tank of diesel and clocking the miles.

Also, I do 80 miles a day (to work), mostly on flat Fenland roads.

Balance this against my last car (Mondeo 2.5V6) and I think you will understand why I can't smile wide enough.

    Don

I am new to this site and wish I was as pleased as you. I have a Vectra 2.0 DTi (2002) (Only 5 forward gears), do 50 miles a day on the M6 at around 60mph (cruise control on) and only average 44mpg. Quite disappointing. Any ideas from anyone on improving this? (I have a light right foot so I can't take it any easier)

Maybe a fuel additive might help a little ... somthing like redex or slick 50 fuel add.. halfrauds sell em.. worth a look at i use it every other full tank plus keeps injectors a little cleaner HTH

My old 2.0 DTI B used to average 44-47mpg with mixed driving so I wouldn't imagine the C would be any better really.

Do any of you know how much difference it would make if the fuel filter heater was not working? I have just discovered that mine isn't heating, despite the power getting there.

My 2.2 DTi is only getting 31.9 according to the trip computer. It was up at 38 at one point then dropped down to 28. It's only just starting to go back up......

Your's is an auto isn't it? That would explain the difference.

Mine is a manual so I'm afraid being automatic doesn't quite explain it.

Acetone? Funny you should mention that. I have just added acetone for the first time so I am awaiting results. Started much more smoothly this morning though, given the air temp of minus 1.5C when I set off for work at 05:00 this morning.

Incidentally, this engine has run happily for several thousand miles now on 50/50 mix of new veg oil and diesel. How strange though that the price of veg oil (Asdas rapeseed, usually) has gone up from 54p to 99p per litre in six months. Is that down to the Saudis? I think not!
Veg oil hasn't altered mpg at all and I have been measuring at every top-up for the past 12,000 miles.

    Keep the ideas coming. Cheers.
