    Default Servicing.

    Evenings...Trust you are all well.

Does my car have one of these DPF's and what is the recall I am reading about?

Mine is an 05 Cdti 1.9 (Elite).

Also - the dealer "none" Vauxhall I bought the car from serviced the car as part of the sale but the spanner comes on when you first turn on the ignition which I thought meant less than 600 mile to next service.....

Car is on 63K but was services by Vauxhall last year on 54K?

I am thinking of getting the car into Vauxhall or a friends garage for a better oil change - what is best to use with the Cdti as I have heard they perform better with certain oils?

I may as well get the cambelt done as well - I know it's not due for a while but "might as well".

What would the engine benifit from servicing wise - other fluids have been done by the dealer I purchased it from - happy to use these.....

What will be tired on a 60K in 3 yrs Cdti (all be it an Elite which "may" I hope have had an easier life)

Mine is an 05 Elite estate so does that mean I need to check in with them?

    So a 10/40 semi or a 5/30 full...

I have not idea what the seller used but I bet it was not a top shelf oil!.

    Thanks

    Bobby,

for the DPF equipped cars, 5W30 fully synth from VX , changed every 10,000 miles is the only way to go....the DPF is sensitive to the sulphur content of oil and VX's brew reflects this...yes it's a bit dearer, but way cheaper thanm having DPF problems out of warranty

PS.. they haven't reset your service indicator, thats all..

So how can I tell if my car has DPF? is this just like a fancy cat? or is it some kind of re-circ....(great!)

Sorry for my lack on knowledge.

As its an estate I would have thought it would have one. Someone posted a pic of one the other day. Its in the exhaust. Looks a bit like a cat but with a couple of pipes going to it. hth

I am appauling at searching forums!!!...

Can a forum wizard find the link and attach. I had a look under the car and can see what looks a normal cat but my mech knowledge is not great.

Looking in the service stamps it looks to have had 10/40 oil - defo counter on the car as the Insp has also come up aswell which tells me the car thinks it needs a service.

£128 in the local VX place for a 5/30 service and cam belt change is £180 I think.. They said I will need a recall on the handbrake when the paperwork comes in but they are not aware of any recall's on DPF's.... if I have one.

    Have a look HERE
Its not the pic I was after but I'll keep looking. It does give some VIN plate info.
