    Default Heater Switch Problem

    Hi all,

I have a Vec-C 05 SRI with manual AC. The fan only works when the dial is in position 4. I am at 67K miles.

This exact same problem happenned before at approx 30K. When I had it repaired under warranty, the garage knew exactly what to do before even looking at the car (said something about a blown resistor), suggesting to me it was a common fault - confirmed by it happenning to me again!

    So I have 2 questions:
    - Whats my warranty on my car? Am I still covered?
    - Does anybody have any info / fixes for this fault?

    Many thanks,

    Phil

Am right in stating that as you car has done over 60k its out of warranty.

Yes its the resistor pack for the heater/blower,common fault as you said, think cost was under a tenner, but not 100% sure.

I would ring the garage who did the repair and ask them if they'd share the cost of it as a good will gesture, worth a try.....

If not do a search for resistor pack and see whats involved, good luck......

    Thanks for that.

It appears that I have to go in through the glove box so I'll have a go at the weekend.

    Cheers

Just found out £22.30 + vat!!

Has anybody tried replacing with standard RS resistors? Or worked out the resistor values?
